next time I’ll get the tomato bisque. yes.
I’m completely head over heels for Savannah. Minus scary storms, minus “no sundresses if you work here,” and minus the dining hall. Everything else = amazing! :)
On Saturday I found some closed toed shoes from urban outfitters (there is one less than a mile from my house. GODSEND! Yahhoo!) that I’ve worn everyday since then (really dressy atmosphere, people). I went shopping down Broughton St. (cute drawing below)

I found a target and got groceries and an ultra cool bike pump so I can scoot around and be green! :) Saturday was low key for sure but I definitely needed it after crazy Clemson Orientation. Sunday was WAY more exciting. so lets move there…
SUNDAY: I woke up and went running at forsyth park when it was just under 80 degrees. It’s fairly close to my HoJo dwelling, and it has a one mile circumfrence! It’s got to be the prettiest place i’ve run. Three things going for it 1) i know distance. check. 2) It’s flat. AMAZING! 3) It’s shaded THE WHOLE WAY! how? Savannah is COVERED by trees. everywhere. i just have to show you.

Well these pics don’t do it justice — but it’s beautiful!

After that my new fun friend Crystal and I went to Brunch at SOHO where I had the best greek omelette EVER. This real cool OA, Taylor, told me the best thing to get there is the tomato biqsue and a MASSIVE grilled cheese. like… five kinds of cheese (let’s not talk about the grilled cheese I got today, okay? WOOF!)
SUCH as awesome restaurant and i’m definitely bringing a visitor here. It could be you! :) :)
APPLYING THEORY TO MY JOB! THIS is where it gets fun! :)
I had to clean up real quick and meet DB (my supervisor) for some 1:1 training about all things SCAD, Student Involvement, FYE & Summer Swarm. And wow did I learn a ton in 2 hours. This man Jeff, before the man DB came along, thought up the concept of Summer Swarm from scratch using the Mission of the College, the goals of the office (1. relieve anxiety 2. connect people to resources 3. connect people to people (easy, simple, love it)), and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. And it’s beautiful. They literally will not do something during Orientation or in the Office of Student Involvement if it does not relate back to those three goals. The theory and structure of the office is SO well planned, and he drew it up all for me on a huge white board with dry erase.
Have YOU ever heard of an “ombudsman”? Cause I NEVER had.
An ombudsman (English plural: conventionally ombudsmen) is a person who acts as a trusted intermediary between an organization and some external constituency while representing the broad scope of constituent interests.
(thank you wiki)
Basically, it’s this guy or gal at the college that is dedicated to NOT taking the side of the college OR the student, and will be a listening ear to anyone to see if the action taken was fair. Could be about a professor, grades, judicial… ANYTHING. i was blown away.
After the entire rundown of the office, SCAD as a school, history… everything he could give me in 2 hours, we went to meet the OAs to do a session prep for Session 2. This lasted less than 30 minutes. If you’ve ever worked with Clemson Orientation, you will be jealous by what I’ve just written. very very jealous.
I tried to call it an early night, but I couldnt WAIT for what today held. (i fell asleep past 1. i have emails to prove it… yikes! But Clemson O did teach me always to be on time) Heck yes I was the first one there in the morning.. for ..
MY FIRST DAY ON THE JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :)
